I've utilised:

git clone --recursive https://github.com/cherokee/webserver.git
cd webserver
./autogen.sh
make dist-gzip

to produce a resulting .tar.gz distribution containing './configure' etc
suitable for use against the Fedora EPEL RPM packaging configuration.
