I wouldn't say I'm 'against' all those things. I just meant that a lot
of things are somewhat arbitrary.

Example: a 100 mile straight flat wide smooth road in remote Nevada
with a 55 mph speed limit. 55 isn't really 'fast enough'. OTOH: 25mph
past the local school is plenty fast enough. There's over 100,000 laws
on the books, most are certainly appropriate, some are more
questionable.

And more to the topic of Chevelles, how about the clunker laws? They
are proven to be less than effective, but people keep trying. None of
us will be happy when the officials come to take and crush your Chevelle
because it is a 'clunker' by someone else's opinion.

In general I obey the speed limits, depending on where I am. Past the
schools, homes, populated areas, sure I'm right there or below. On the
open interstate with little traffic, maybe +5 or +10 mph. Not a big
deal (to me). Once in a great while I'll blast up to 90 or so in the
Camaro or Chevelle, but only in desolate areas, and only for a few
seconds.

That was my point. We have a wonderful society, and I'm not
complaining, just wondering how far the price will go.

Not an extremist, just thinking out loud.
Although when it comes to the 20,000+ useless gun laws and the clunker
laws, I can get pretty worked up. :-)
