Thanks for the response and information. After reading your email response I again went back and looked through my old magazines. Its seems your reply to my question looks to be valid from what I saw in the magazine pictures. All the articles are of 66SS non a/c cars with the 396/360hp, M21 displaying only the finger plate protector in the engine compartment pictures.
I then reviewed a purchased muscle car book titled, Muscle car Color History, Chevelle 1964-1972 for additional pictures and details. It seems the two 66 SS cars displayed both were without a/c. The only engine compartment picture displayed in the book had a shroud. I will guess but it is most likely these cars are very nice restoration cars with the added shroud for better engine cooling by those owners. Thanks again for the response.
