I used to have a problem with my choke on the old 2 barrel rochester I had... If it was hot and it wouldn't start, I could get under the hood, close the choke a little bit manually, and it's fire right up... then I'd have to run out and open the choke back up.  It was a pain.   Have you tried tuning the carb?  Making sure the float is adjusted right, etc.? I like people to see what I have as I drive by and let their jealousy rise to an insurmountable anguish.  MPG is important to me.  But maybe I should explain my reasoning and let "The List" have the last word. It all comes down to the fact that I don't trust the carb that's on there.  I'd much rather have something that I know is going to start up every time.  It's also acting like it needs a heat shield.  And from what I hear, they only make heat shields for 4 barrels.  I've replaced the battery and it's got a new fuel pump so I'm pretty sure it has to be the carb.  At any temp over 180 it has a hard time starting.  After severely pumping the gas it'll start but I get a big cloud of smoke coming out of the exhaust.  So I figure what the hell, just put a good 4 brrl on there (W/ a heat shield) and all my problems are solved... right? Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List ------------------------------------------------------------ I'd stick with a 2-barrel,,especially on a stock 307..Granted a 4-barrel with smaller primaries will not be as much,,"usually",,as a 2-barrels.....I'd look up the CFM numbers on your 2-barrel too before buying a 4-barrel,,,which I'm not absolutely sure what the lowest CFM rating is out there regarding 4-barrels,,600 cfm comes to mind,,,but I'm not sure...I'd be suprised if the 307's carb flows more than 400 cfm,,guessing....
