Actually, we never did have the ability to send pictures via this mailing list. With an average of 250-300 subscribers times a 200K+ (I've had bounces of 2meg images!) picture = one heck of a lot of email/bandwidth for a web server to process every time. Plus, many of the list members may not want pictures coming in to their home (slow connection would take ages) or work (whatcha doing using our connection for car pictures?) plus curious network admins and corporate servers having to sniff the files to see just what these attachments are coming into the company. In general, mailing lists have always been called discussion lists, and this is what they perform best as.
