Thank you for the chuckle, Luis.  I have been to Hermosillo many times, & I can relate to the phrase, “boulevard intimidator”.  That phrase takes on a new meaning in Mexico.

Good Luck with your Chevelle, & next time I am in Hermosillo, it would be my pleasure to meet you.

Subject: [Chevelle-List] Need advice

Hello guys.

I am Luis H. Corbala and had been absent from the list for quite some time until about a week ago.

You might remember me the Chevelle lover from Mexico who used to fantasize about building his 70 Chevelle.

well it seems like the time is finally coming, I am sending the car to the body shop in about two or three weeks, and in the mean time I have to build the roll cage and get the engine and tranny installed.

I have already sold the tunnel rammed 383 that I was going to use, and bought a .030 over 454 to use with my wide ratio Muncie.

Now I wanted to ask for your advice on what I should do with the engine since I was thinking about setting it back a few inches. Is it worth doing so when it comes to handling in the dragstrip and weight transfer?

I do not mind cutting the firewall if the performance really improves, my car is not an SS anyway, and it was so beaten up that I am giving it a second chance on life, even if I cut it up. My real concern is messing with the linkage for the clutch, I will use a high pressure RAM clutch, so the linkage need to work smoothly (Should I go for a hydraulic setup?).

The car will be a daily driven street brawler, and I have already removed the complete AC system (If anybody needed an AC system and were willing to pay for shipping only feel free to give me a call), the brake booster, the power steering and the seats. so creature comfort is not exactly my priority as is boulevard intimidation.

Any comments will be very very welcome.

Thanks and God bless you!

Luis H. Corbala
