How true Dale!! I have the March setup for the SBC w/ long water pump
(22020). The belt lengths in the instructions just don't work. Tommorow
will be my 4th trip to the parts store for that damn alternator serpentine
belt. One too long, one too short, one he gave me was not the size marked
(found out too late) B-(. What I found finally worked was:

SBC w/ long water pump (69-72):
Alternator pulley / water pump pulley / crank pulley - 6 rib 41.5" length -
(5060415)
Power steering pump / water pump pulley / crank pulley - 5 rib 33.5" length -
(5050335)

Other notables:

You have to watch the clearance from the original 66 Chevelle small block
power steering pump to the engine block because the power steering return
line that is brazed onto the pump causes interference. I had to tweak the
return line in order for it to fit.

Also I had to drill out a threaded hole in the water pump so that a bolt
could go through to mount the lower power steering pump brackets on. Not
clearly stated in the instructions.

Then there was the three times back and forth with Jegs sending me
incorrect parts. I thought that this was a bolt on kit. Yeah right. The
'kit' contained the correct pulleys, but the incorrect brackets (they were
for BBC and not SBC). When we finally got it right three weeks later, the
guy from Jegs pulled all 25 of his SBC 'kits' in stock from March, and found
22 of 25 to be packed with the wrong brackets. Go firgure. I had to ask
myself 'Does anybody else buy this stuff or is it just me????' and 'What
happened to quality control??'. LOL

Yessiree. I went with a Black Max electric fan mounted to a Griffin
aluminum radiator. VERY little room from the back of the fan to the water
pump nose cone. Hope I don't have problems when the engine torques on
acceleration. We will see.

BTW Dale, thanks for the info you posted on your site regarding the March
setup. It came in handy, especially the part about buying the box of 3/8"
washers. B-)
