I personally would back it down just a tad. Although you can not hear spark knock or detonation at this point, as deposits build in the cylinders and on the back of the intake valves I'm quite sure it will develop.  Are you already running a higher octane fuel? 93 or 94 octane ? Higher octane fuels burn slightly slower but more even, they are also harder to light up when cold, and produce cold problems running at first, but once warm well worth the extra price at the pump. One other thing to keep in mind, is keeping the carb properly adjusted and setup. Advancing the timing and running a leaner mix will enhance the chances of creating knock and detonation. Leaner mixes burn hotter and light off much easier by hot carbon build up and deposits. Having more burn time also helps create these deposit in forming. Lighting the mix off early also creates spark knock and detonation.

Good luck

Wayne,
I have it set at 16 BTDC and there is no knocking or detonation. The car is running good. Do you think that I should back if off some.
