I used to have that problem on my old intake. I just installed a new
Edelbrock manifold, and they suggested either permatex or teflon tape. Since
the teflon tape was handy, I tried that. No leaks so far, but I don't have
much time on the new manifold yet.

copper washers will work but I think a good blast of permatex on clean bolts
work as well.
