The window of a lot of air dry paints differ a lot.  Some up to 2 weeks depending on how much paint was initially put down first and the drying conditions including both temperature and humidity.  Ideally a separate piece of metal would be coated at the same time and used for testing of the second coat at different time intervals to determine when it would be safe to recoat your part without having it lift again.  My 2 cents
