I can understand the frustration of those trying to get off the list. I've been on here almost since the beginning. I have unsubscribed several times when gone for a week or two, due to the large amount of mail per day. Sometimes the un-sub process has worked, sometimes not. Sometimes I have instructions at the bottom of my list mail, often not. I do save the monthly List Instructions to another folder, so I can reference that when I need it. And I always seem to have to reference it when it is time to get off for a little while. The un-sub process just has not worked as well as the initial sign-up, in my experience. I do like the new means to temporarily suspend mail delivery, though. It has worked well for me a couple of times, so I haven't actually had to try to really un-sub recently.

While the rest of see great humor in the alternative instructions somebody wrote up and posted some time ago, and roll our eyes when the request gets asked, "Remove me...", perhaps we need to realize that this is still all new to many folks. Imagine being a computer and Internet rookie, and finding this neat Chevelle list. Fill out a few blanks, and you're on. All of a sudden, 25 - 50 emails a day are showing up - panic! Especially if it's on a work computer... and no instructions to get off... and everybody telling you to read the instructions, stupid... and they aren't there...

This seems to be one of the few issues on the Chevelle List which raises the ire of the regulars. Usually everybody is pretty polite to one another. Maybe we should consider these newcomers as temporary guests, and understand when they show their unfamiliarity with the system. If they were guests in our homes, we wouldn't jump their case when they asked where the bathroom is and then said the toilet is plugged up and ready to overflow! We'd help them solve the problem, even if we didn't like it and didn't want to and were relieved when they left.

Tolerance, folks!

Thanks for letting me rant a little. It snowed again last nite. We now have about 1-1/2 ' on the ground. I am ready for Spring!

Hey Sarge,

Did you try the link shown as "email list management information" at the
bottom of every message, or, if the exact words you are expecting don't
leap out at you, do you just give up without digging around?

BTW it would do you a world of good to lose the chip on your shoulder.
