The x pipes seem so expensive. How hard would it be to take two pieces and
have them bent into the right configuration, flare the ends, grind the
holes, weld them together, install braces on the top and bottom, and
install. Too much trouble?

I am running the 30 series that came with the American thunder kit on a
small block 350.

I was told, by flowmaster, that the 40-series mufflers were not recommended
for big blocks because the tend to pop. Are you running 40s on a big block?

...pinging popping sound that he had before

So, is that what it is that I'm hearing out of my American Thunder 2 1/2"
Flowmaster system w/ the H-pipe? I was trying to figure out if I was having
detonation.

Just a comment on the H-pipe vs. the X-pipe. My brother has a 2004 Z06 vette
and he had 3 dyno pulls done on it and then with out taking it off the rack,
they put an X-pipe on it and it and did 3 more pulls. It gained 8 hp and the
sound is totally different. Much deeper and more macho sounding than the
pinging popping sound that he had before. The factory H-pipe definitely
needs replaced on the Z06 in my opinion. And I couldn't tell you where he
bought the X-pipe but if some one wants to know I could ask him.

: I think you mean 'Mr Gas'. They make a cool 'X' pipe kit that was all
: the rage for a while... not sure who to believe regarding the 'H' pipe
: vs. the 'X' pipe.
