It could be a problem with getting the car registered if the VIN cannot be read.  Try a highway patrol office or sheriff's dept. and see if they will check their 'secret' locations on the car and verify the VIN.  Depending on your state, you may be able to get a replacement VIN plate.  If you do, be sure to keep ALL the paperwork as you may need it later for verification or when/if you ever sell the car.

i have a 1968 chevelle ss convertible . it's been in the weather so long without a windshield the vin plate has rusted to the point that you can't read all the numbers. is the a problem or can this be corrected.
