The first one was a chrome plated steel pump from Summit racing.
The latest is a chrome plated aluminum pump made by ???.
I found the receipt, and sent the people an e-mail, we'll see what happens..
I think I'll just get a polished aluminum one..
these chrome ones have bit me twice, and it's starting to hurt!

As far as Chrome water pumps go they are not junk unless you get a rebuilt one that is done with an inferior seal. Many chrome parts on a motor can and will leak after a period of time or even upon installation if not install properly for example over torquing the bolts and crushing the gasket. Chrome water pumps are a little different as they start life as a standard cast water pump as would have originally come from the factory. Many other chrome parts such a s timing covers and valve covers use very cheap and thin metal as the base for there chrome product which makes them prone to oil problems.
