Yep, I had the same problem.  I used the starter shield, but you can use the header wraps as well.  Or you can just watch all the people drooling over your car while you wait for the starter to cool back down!  J

heat soak....

maybe try one of those heat insulation shields or blankets, or a solenoid relocation kit.

fairly common on Chevy's with headers, so I hear..
