hi dale your right  about what you said, when  he said he wanted to raise the rear of the car, a picture  went off in my head , (IM sure you have seen yourself) an old elcamino  with big tire's and air shock pump up hard so the tires would clear the wells, then wondering why the ride is rough, or shock mounts are breaking,,  but my thoughts on air bags, its an unnecessary  expense in a middle of a restoration,  and money is best spent in the upgrading  of materials like stainless steel  for the fuel lines and brake lines and options the car might have had, he said also that he change the engine to a 396 ,  then one should upgrade the brake, rear end, tranny, the sway bar, the steering would all be different then the original 307 car as you very well know the list goes on, but during a restoration money spent on  air bags take away money needed to  finish  the car,   you also have to remember the value of the car,   a clone chevelle   will never bring more then 16k no matter what you do to it, not when there are real ss out there for  the same money, now IM speaking from a seller / builders, point of view, if you just want a fun car to work on and drive  then by all means spend 20k on the car make it the way you want it, and enjoy. its still better then buying a new car these days, right now you can get a Hyundai for 17 k and  after 80k miles and 5 years you will sell it for 2000  dollars.  Where money spent of an old chevelle  you will still be able to recover the money spent, for the most part, and never have to worry about loosing it in a parking lot.  thoughts  from a old man     jim
