JB is it did not know it was a new harness try cutting a few links out of the spring that might help or better yet try useing alittle heat like a soldering iron heat the spring up might make it weaker, i have always rebuilt my harnesses, so i have not had the same problems you are having , it sounds like a defective sockits or poorly design one , what does the manufacturer have to say about it , im sure the person that design it never had his head under a dash before,,,,,, good luck jim
