Scott,

Can't help you with the headliner, but have had mouse issues. They can fit
through a hole the size of a dime. They are excellent climbers and
jumpers. I've had bird seed disasters from storing it in my shop, which is
in the basement, seed stored in my attic above the garage to seed I hadn't
promptly removed from my daily driver, fortunately never any in the
Chevelle or other vehicles in the garage. Yes - their pee stinks and they
pee everywhere - it was war. I would stand aimed with my BB gun where they
would run through - missed every time. I now keep all bird seed and any
other garage stored mouse munchables in plastic buckets with lids. I now
keep towels, clean rags, manuals and papers (all favorite nesting
materials) in sealed plastic tote containers and oily rags in a metal 5 gal
can. I have bought several of these sonic plug ins that send out a varying
frequency that keeps rodents away. Come winter, they start to look for
warmer quarters and typically sneak in around the corners of the garage
doors. I found them coming in through the weep holes in the brick last
fall - put in new rope wicks and siliconed the rest of the gap. I have
several traps in the shop and in the garage all winter. My preventive
measures made a big difference.

A suggestion that came from the counter person at my local auto parts store
was to put several bars of Irish Spring soap in stored vehicles as mice are
detoured from the smell. Never tried it, but may be it helps?

Good luck and sorry to hear about your mess.

Hey Guys,
I've been trying to get rid of the mice that decided to make my
Chevelle their home. I placed traps in the car in several locations. The
first one I caught looked suspiciously like a female that was either
pregnant or had just given birth. The second and third mice I caught
confirmed that this first was a new mother as they were babies. I pulled
the rear seat to find the home they built using pieces of stuffing from my
seats (quite a bit of stuffing I may add) They had obviously been there
awhile, based on the amount of mouse dung I vaccumed up. I felt pretty
confident that I had rid the ' 69 of all unwelcomed visitors. Last night I
opened the drivers door and when I did, something dropped down on top of
my head. I looked up to see bird seed falling down from the headliner. I
took a closer look and peeled back the door seal a little and quite a bit
of seed fell from there. The little bastards moved to higher ground and
are now living above my headliner. I'm guessing that there are at least 2
(or more) nests up there. I can see a larger discolored spot above the
drivers seat which is wet to the touch and smells like urine. Also, you
can feel the weight of what I assume is another nest, just above the
drivers seat. This is somewhat of a heartbreaker as the interior of my '
69 is in excellent condition.
My question: Is there any way to pull the edges of the headliner down
so I can get a look up there without destroying it? I don't want to remove
the headliner if I don't have to but I want to be able to run the
intruders out of my car. I can understand mice getting into a garaged car,
but how the hell did they get above the headliner? Any input would be
appreciated. Thanks.
