I checked the codes on my rear end with chevelles.com list of codes, and it
appears to be the correct 3.31 12 bolt. I have not measured it from drum to
drum though. In the chevelles.com forums, 65 rear needs a 5" backspacing.
Our 'little' bodies just don't have the room of the later models. I do
think that with the 245-60's will be much better, but if you're going that
size why not just go 7" rim all the way around? A 7" with 4 1/2"
backspacing is much easier to find than 8" with 5". The only reason to go
with the 8" is to put bigger tires.
