Harlan, There are other guys on the list that are
further along than I, but let's for a moment
disconnect the linkage from the transmission. (Engine
off) There are specific "detents" that can be felt
just like when you are shifting from above. What you
can do to theck everything is to put the transmission
in low. Connect up the linkage and adjust linkageand
pointer to Low! Then move it to park or whatever and
check the pointer matches.
Worse case. Use Jack Stands and a smart person to fire
it up while holding the brakes. You can put it into
gear as felt by detent and let off the brake slowly
and listen. Don't let the wheeles get any spead, to
speak of.
