RJ, I have some info on 69 springs but it’s
not as detailed as the 67 stuff. Two charts at http://www.chevellestuff.com/69velle/front_springs.htm
show the (1) “Assembly Code” number and specs and (2) spring used
by sprung weight – sadly, not very informative for us laymen. A big
block will add about 200 lbs over the 350 with all else being equal. Dale McIntosh 67 El Camino 1967 Chevelle

Behalf Of Dale Yes and no, depends on the year and
options involved. For example, 1967 shows 25 different front springs for
Chevelles, 5 of those for 138xx (SS) cars; one each for hardtop and convertible,
different spring (but same for both) if either have A/C, and a different spring
yet for both if F40 equipped. Many are listed for small block cars with
same options. A standard 13817 (67 SS hardtop) spring coded
“AA” is also listed for 15 other non-SS Chevelles depending on
series/model/suspension/and options. Granted most aftermarket companies like
Moog, TRW, etc. pare these down to just a few sets. What year are you
working on and what equipment (e.g., AC or not) will it have when done? Dale McIntosh 67 El Camino 1967 Chevelle

Behalf Of RJ Winkler Hey Guys,
Quick question, does anyone know the difference between big block and small
block front springs? Later on I want to convert to the big block but
don’t really want to buy different springs if I don’t have to.
Would it hurt to use big block springs with a 350 and then later on
change over to a new engine? Thanks –RJ Winkler |
