Do you mean you need to change the filter?  If so, you need an AC PF141 or equivalent filter.  Get started looking now because not many places will carry it.  You may have to mail order it.  Or, go old school and use a roll of toilet paper!

The process of changing the oil filter is pretty easy.  Get your drain pan under the filter.  There is a long bolt going up the middle into the block.  I think it is a 3/4" hex head, but I could be off here.  I use a socket wrench to loosen the bolt a few turns.  Oil may start leaking around the top of the canister, or maybe even from the bolt hole.  You can push up on the canister and allow some oil to drain from the bolt hole, then remove it the rest of the way and pour out the oil from the canister.

Since my canister seals well, I load the filter and fill it with a quart of oil, then carefully feed the O ring into the groove with my fingers.  Trying not to spill the oil, list the canister and get the bolt threaded.  spin the canister or use the wrench to seal the canister into place, making sure that the O-ring is still there so that it seals.  Tighten to maybe 25 ft-lbs (guess) until the canister is sealed and you are theoretically done, assuming no leaks.

I need to change out my canister in my 64 Elky.   Just resently purchased it and it has the old canister.   Any suggestions of what I should buy and where?   I live in the Portland, OR area.

I changed my oil this past weekend. I love the fact that I don't even have
to jack up my 69 to change the oil & filter. I have a 1958 block, so I also
have one of those oil filter canister to spin-on adapters. Good to know that
I should be checking the upper seal once in a while. I don't have the
canister or the old style filter, so I have one less option than you if it
goes south.
