I'm 50, and I got my first '71 Malibu in 1974. At that time I didn't do
much work on the car other than tune ups, oil changes, and a clutch. I bought my
second '71 Malibu in 1999, which is virtually identical to my first car (see http://www.eagleshore.com/bear/bear.htm).
But with help from this list and some friends, I'm learning the art of car
restoration and modification. I'm confident enough now to have actually
purchased another car ('66 Elky) to work on while I drive the Malibu.
