BTW, Peter Max is a very well known artist, and if he did paint the cars, their value would probably go up. Nothing wrong with a custom paint job. I really liked the cars in the Austin Powers movies. People were saying that these cars are "unmolested originals" and all of that. Do we actually know that? My guess is that the MTV people had a hard enough time finding one of every year. I doubt that they went to any great trouble to document them. Anyway, I'll see if I can dig up any info.
John Nasta p.s. These kinds of contests always go to people who can't afford to keep the prize. MTV once gave away the new (at the time) Batmobile. It had no engine in it. It was basically a paperweight on a Corvette chassis.
