Dang,what the heck did they do to that rear for $1300?

64 El Camino - I just had my rearend totally rebuilt.   Was $1300 and they had it for 3 days, new gears.  They made sure it worked very well before I got the car back. 
 
They also did my muncie manual 4 speed, totally rebuilt for $1600.   They opened the trany 4 times to make it work right.  Had it 5 days.
 
Hope this gives you an idea of what a national transmission shop will charge you.

Jim,are you wanting to find a used rear end with the correct width and
gearing or buy an aftermarket unit? The former will be very hard to find and
both will be very expensive,with the latter being more so.
