Clint…I thought about Stainless works, but wanted the coating to eliminate much of the heat I have on my 454. With an 8-72 on top, it can and does put out heat via the headers. I guess the Stainless headers could be coated as well…but it just doesn’t seem right to coat a nice SS header!(GRIN) Next project is Dynamat or whatever works the best, inside the Chevelle.

I’m also a bit anti low body style. I can remember way…back in the 60’s we wanted the front end jacked up, transferring some of the weight to the rear wheels. It wasn’t worth a damn driving on a windy day down the freeway. But looked cool! Then we went with the ass end up in the air to help eliminate wheelies(SURE).

My car has a new SS gas tank from Rick’s with a deep sump. The tank rides a bit low on the 72…plus I asked them to make it a bit bigger for extra gas. Plus..I kind of like the rear up a bit. I sure get people stopping by, wherever I park in Houston or Wharton. Seem like everyone wants the Chip Foose or Coddington look….Fine by me, I just want to do something a bit upstream and nostalgic! As my late Dad used to say, “If it’s yours…do what you want with it…..just try not to embarrass me too much!(GRIN)

Hooker does build excellent stuff but their A-body headers don't like lowered cars. The Stainless Works tubes tuck in pretty tight.

I'm very happy with the headers I bought direct from Jet Hot. They sold me Hooker Super Comps for a great price and hat them coated and the difference is significant than buying them already coated. They do excellent work on their coating!!
