1967 was the first year for TH400's to be available in Chevelles and El Caminos,Tom.
A stock TH350 needs some beefing up to live a long life behind a BBC. The advantage to the 350 over a 400 is the lower rotational mass (less power drain) and shorter low gear; 2.54 vs 2.48.

Big blocks only got 4 speeds or a TH400 trans from 68-up and a 4 speed or powerglide from 67 and down.  A TH350 may hold up for a while on a stock big block, but if you put any kind of real torque behind it, it won't last long.
