My engine makes about 425 and I use an M21. Unless you are pulling hole shots, the 21 is more than enough and you can pick them up for $500. Granted, we'll all pull a hole shot once in a while. But for $500, you can break three 21's before you get to a 22...

Subject: [Chevelle-list] Muncie 4 Speeds

I need to pick up a 4 speed Muncie tranny for my 66 SS396 in the next couple of months. The boss of the guy doing my paint has a rock crusher M22 available for $1400. Talking to my machine shop guy, he is expecting my 396 to produce 400 to 425 horsepower when I put it together.

Based on my expected output, is an M22 a good choice, or should I save the money and get myself an M20 or M21?

And Gene, when I order the harness from you, what will be the expected lead time?

Thanks,
Larry
