it not a Mold Thing Pelle.. it's a wear thing. The Jute acts as a buffer between the steel springs and the soft Foam..

Hi!

I guess I'd be ok with some sort of fine but sturdy nylon net
or fabric then? Making it possible for the foam to "breathe",
to avoid the new seat to get mouldy again?

Yes Pelle, you need something between the soft Foam and the hard Spring steel, to prevent it from grinding it's way through the foam...I used a newer type (nylon Polly ?) feed bag cut to fit on one set of Buckets !

What is the "jute" stuff with thin steel wires between the springs & the foam called?
Is it necessary to use it? Can I use sth else?

Best regards
Pelle
