Hi Walt,

A friend of mine has one in his '70 454 El Camino and he beats on it and it
keeps on ticking. The only problem he's had that I know of is the speed
sensor that makes it do its thing stopped working. He called the Gear
Vendor tech support and the tech explained how to hard wire it so he would
have overdrive and when he got home a new piece was waiting for him.

His only complaint is that the overdrive ratio isn't enough to cruise
comfortably at the same speed as me. We both have 3.70 rear gears but my OD
ratio is .64 compared to his .7 or .8 (not sure which).

It's a pretty cool unit I'll give it that. It shifts fast and hard and
doesn't seem to miss a beat. Oh, and a six speed auto sounds cool under
power!

Subject: [Chevelle-list] Gear Vendors Overdrive

I need some opinions. I have the opportunity to pick up a used gear
vendor overdrive unit at a decent price. Anyone out there running
one? Problems? Success? Thoughts?

Thanks
Walt
