That is correct with the 3 letters versus the 2 , but last week I brought my 396 in at the machine shop ( In the process of rebuilding the engine) and I wanted it manufluxed and check the bores, he called to tell me that it was a 402 not a 396,
so I differ to agree with the 3 letter difference.
