I made the mistake of buying a new style powertrax for my diff after I blew up the spider gears.  These are only available for open style diffs and not the posi diffs.  Mine is a posi and their web site and ordering is not clear on this.  I was quite disappointed and ended up putting in an Auburn Pro series posi unit.  I  believe I ordered it from Summit and they took it back no questions asked.  There was a feature on Hot Rod TV where they swapped in one for a chevy real.  I recorded it on DVR and used it when I attempted to install mine, they didn't mention the open diff thing either.  They gave it high marks.

My comments were about the older "Lock Right".
As I said, their customer service is top notch, I would not be opposed to trying their new products.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] Powertrax Revisited

I remember a couple of weeks back, there was a thread concerning Powertrax. I remember reading negative comments, basically excessive tire wear and ratcheting (popping) noise while in tight turns.

I'm curious if the discussion was about the older Powertrax Lock Right product, or their new, supposedly more streetable Extreme Traction Systems, which they claim:

"Spool performance when coming off the line and full wheel differentiation in the turns. Whether your vehicle is driven everyday or just on the weekends, POWERTRAX® EXTREME TRACTION SYSTEM's combination of maximum traction and smooth quiet operation will make you a winner."

I've seen some favorable reviews on this, and wanted to get your thoughts...
