I would have to agree. Something don’t sound right and since you have already broke a gear, there is a chance that you may have debris from that. Better safe then sorry.

Things dont just go bad and lockup. If it were me, id make a full tear down and inspect all components.I run a 454 also, and these big block are very costly if you tear them up while there running. Cost alot less now than later. good luck Eddie Bumgarner 66ss conv.
