I love late 60's Chevy trucks and have dreamed about a LS1/automatic w/overdrive powered daily driver.  I'd rather drop the dough into one of those than purchasing a newer Silverado.  IF I can get that combo to work reliably with at least double digit gas mileage.  Not too far fetched eh?

Talk about livin' the good life.........swapping between a "67 short bed pickup and my '69 Chevelle for the daily grind.  Dare to dream!

Funny thing is my woman would rather I get a '70 Blazer with that combo........she likes that the top comes off!  Go figure!! 8-)

Borlas on a LS1 sound pretty cool too. I live in both worlds--LS1 6 speed in the C5 and 454s in both the Elky and 66. For cruising can't beat the former--combined ~29 mpg between here (western Oregon), Yellowstone, and back.

A buddy has successfully put LS series engines in gen 1 camaros, tri-fives, and other prods from the General with great results and happy customers. Hard to argue with, all things considered.

But the "Wow!" factor of opening the hood and seeing a big block is hard to beat.  Plus, there's no better sound than hearing the rumble of a BBC. Just my humble opinion.

Besides, if it's a weekend toy what's an extra $5 to play?
