Larry,As Devin said regarding the hole in your floor for your Comp + shifter.I had fabricated a tunnel cover when installing the Comp.+ shifter in my 69 El Camino a while back. But I have the engine out now and it is going back in this coming Thursday. While it's out I replaced my cover with the non console tunnel cover and I used rivnuts to install so that it is removable for maintenance to the shifter. If you plan to install a console I would use the console tunnel cover for future installation. You want to close up that hole in the floor.Later Gene

This has been covered several times - the 307 is unique.  If you want to use the existing frame/crossmember mounts, you must use 307 engine mounts on your 327/350 etc.  You will not have the metal safety latch on the regular 350 engine mounts.  If you change the frame/crossmember mount, you can use the 350 engine mount.

I'm using 307 engine mounts on my 71 Malibu with sbc. Haven't broke one yet.

Tim

I had to remove my small block from mine to change the timing cover gasket and oil pan gasket. I attempted to do it in the car, just wasn't worth the time and energy. I don't think you can really get the motor high enough to remove the pan in a 64-67 A body(it is possible, but you have to pull too much)

just my 2 cents

I've cut the floor for my 4 speed shifter and the tranny is in place. I have a Hurst Competition Plus shifter. I do not have a center console, although I would like to get one some day when everything else is done with the car.

My question -

1. Do I need to get the shifter hump if I want to get the shifter boot to fit/seal properly?

2. If so, are there carpets available to accommodate the hump?

I would prefer to just carpet over the floor as is and install a shift boot over it if I can get away with it...

Thanks,
Larry Shouse

Dan:
I just brought it up again on the web using the address that I sent. Yes,
it is an old tractor sight but if you go on the site you can get alot of oil
faqs that is relevent today. Try www.atis.net/oil_faq html to see if that
works. gm66

Are you sure about the address. Can you send it again please? I tried the
address to the .net and it gives a old tractor site, but nothing about oil!

Try atis.net/oil_faq website.
Gives comprehensive data on motor oil Specs. by brands etc.....Read entire
article if you "dare" to be truly informed on motor oil.

Larry-- You can use the big hurst shifter boot and it will cover the hole, but it's not a big deal to install the 4 speed hump. I installed one in my car a couple of years ago while the tranny was out. It will only fit in one place. I found I did have to open it up a little to work with the Hurst shifter, but it makes for a much cleaner installation.

Jimmy, I have Firestone Indy 500's on my '70. The size is 255 60's on
all four corners. I have them on 15 X 7 5 spoke chrome Cragar look
alikes. They fit just fine no rubbing and had to do no modifications to
the fender lips or any where else, had plenty of room between the rear
inner fender and the tire. You can see for yourself by clicking on the
second link in my signature.

I am finally ready to put new tires on my 1972 super sport - Z/28 15 X
7 (Gray 5-spoke) wheels. I was thinking Good year Eagle GT's looked
pretty nice but I would like to hear what the list thinks. I like
raised white letters. Jimmy C.

Thanks for sharing your experience Devin. After you installed the hump, how did the carpet fit?

Thanks,

Larry- After 40 years, the original carpet in mine came out in pieces and chunks. The reproduction carpet I ordered fits nicely however, and I did not specify anything when I ordered it.
