I swapped the pan on my 70 in-car. I will admit the best way is to remove the engine to ensure no leaks but I was success full. I also changed the pump/pickup at that time since the pan was 1" deeper. I'm pretty sure I removed the HEI dizzy for extra clearance. Good Luck JC. Just be careful whichever route you take.
