I would suspect it depends on what the specs of the radiator are and what it’s going in, neither of which are mentioned.  Two 1-inch tube crossflow, 3 tube, what?  What vehicle?  Does seem a bit high though when you can get a good PRC from http://www.streetrodstuff.com/Products/157/ for $398 w/o cooler and $50 more with cooler and they’ll built it to your specs.  I had one in my 67 and it worked very well.  http://dalesplace.com/images/chevelle/p001472.jpg

have prices gone up that much in the last year ? Just got a quote and reply from Ron Davis for a radiator:

 

I like to use the cooler in the radiator in most applications and used as a primary in a 2 cooler set-up for race and towing applications.  Your cost for the one with the transmission cooler in it is $985.97 and with-out is $916.57, both radiators are plus shipping.
