I had my 69 frame sandblasted and epoxy primed about 2-3 years
ago. It is tough stuff. I have slammed it, and dropped tools on
it, and even tried chipping it off to get to bare metal. (All long
stories). It is tough stuff.
I don't know about powder coat but I don't see how a stone
could chip this stuff. Maybe depends on the brand or application??
Mine was done by a local shop. Paid $400 for sandblasting and just primer
on a bare frame.
Just my .02

- frame/ suspension parts
on my 69 chevelle we used a epoxy based primer sealer and painted black
over it.every time a wrench or a stone hits it it chips.we have restored
numerous corvettes and powder coated the frame and have had no problems,i hit
the frame on one car with a hammer by mistake and the powder coat wasn't
bothered.

Powder coat the frame, any colour your little heart desires. If you
are going to return the car to original, black is the best.Powder
coating is really neat,it is really tough and looks
great.
The only problem with that is that if it chips, you can't fix it.
Once moisture gets underneath the powerdcoat, it's done, the whole thing
will lift.
