Karl-  From the 2006 rulebok:

Lines:  All non-oem fuel lines(including gauge and or data recorder lines)
must be metallic, steel braided, or NHRA accepted woven or woven push-lock.
A maximum of 12 inches total (front to rear) of non-metallic or non steel
braided is permitted for connection purposes only.

>From personal experience, I redid my entire fuel system (tank to carb) in
1/2" aluminum and have no problems at tech inspection.  My concerns were to
mount it every foot or so to reduce vibration, which can lead to cracks.
