I had that problem with my car ounce. If you undo the connector in the trunk or just behind the bumper and attach it to ground you should see gas gauge move if it is working. They supply the gas gauge with + and the wire going to the tank is -. It is variable resistor the more fuel you have the more your gas gauge reads (better ground from the tank).
