I'm installing a console & floor shifter in my 72 this winter. The
shifter has the neutral safety/ backup light switch on it. Yet factory
manual also shows a backdrive assembly. For what purpose? Lock the
column?

Can I use the stock column shift linkage as a backdrive? If so, do
I need the shifter mounted switch at all? Seems like if the back drive is
moving the column it would also actuate the column mounted neutral/backup
switch.

Will the bracket that connects the column shift rod assembly to the side
of the tranny, work with the cable setup of the floor shifter? Aftermarket
part seems different.

TIA
