Dear all,

I remember an incident mentioned in the Bible. King Herod  wanted his brother's wife for him. John the Baptist saidto him it is not fare that you keep your brother's wife. On a golden oppertunity of his birthday Herodias's daughter  danced  and pleased the king .In return  he gave her John's head. What was the guilt of John ?

Public hearing is a democratic fraud, meaningless and mockery of law. Our
regulatory authorities according permissions to such projects where people
have unanimously denied the project. Thousands of cases have been cleared by
Ministry of Environment and Forests without caring people’s concern
expressed in public hearings.

Please tell me a single case where people’s concern has been taken care of
and project was denied clearance. On 5th January 2008 villagers unanimously
denied one more coal mine of Jindal Group in Tamnar of Raigarh District.
Police brutally lathicharged on agitating innocent villagers during public
hearing. Hundreds injured. Ministry’s Committee for coal mines decided to
reconduct the public hearing. But in next meeting the same committee
reconsider the project and public hearing was nowhere an issue.

Lolipops to the people…..
To important news appear in today’s Dainik Bhaskar, Raipur. Though,
both appears in 2.5x 8.5 cms & 8x 4 cms space in the interior pages,
but having prime importance.
The first one is 3 line news with the heading “Lakho logo ko mile van
adhikar manytapatra” is about distribution of recognition letter of
forest rights to forest dwellers. According to the news recognition
letter of forest rights been granted to 102611 people.
Govt claimed to conclude settlement of undisputed claims on forestland
till end of February.
Can those, who are working on forest rights in Chhattisgarh be please
throw some more light on this issue. What is the authentic situation
now? Is really govt. granting the recognition to more than 1 lakh
claimant? What about the rest? This is to sure that before
implementation of code of conduct for Lok sabha election, here govt
want to settle the process. But, what will happen to remaining 5 to 6
lakhs forest dwellers after the lok-sabha election?

Another news with headline- “steel plant ko hari jhandi” is about
public hearing (Jansunwai) organized at collectorate, Jagdalpur on
27th feb 2009. It is reported that people present there supported the
installation of steel plant for the development of Bastar. This is
known that NMDC is going to establish an integrated steel plant in
Nagarnar (Bastar). People also demanded to provide employment in the
plant to the locals.
We all know that, how various people’s organization and front opposes
the setting of industrial units on agricultural land. The NMDC or any
other industry has done no good to the adivasi of Bastar. Will
Nagarnar repeat the history of Bailadila?

It is indeed perplexing that the state should be bent on keeping Binayak behind bars. I suppose the Naxals have put the state's back up so much that it feels reluctant to make any concessions. I still feel a slip up was made in not challenging the flimsy chargesheet in the higher courts once it was accepted by the lower court. While the supreme court may refuse to hear a bail petition in a non-bailable offence it cannot do so when the chargesheet is challenged prima facie.

I have not been comparing anything. I was just mentioning that patriarchy and sex of all kinds are pervasive throughout human society regardless of ideology. From the beginning I have found it hypocritical on your part to go hammer and tongs at the naxalites while not saying anything about capitalism which is in my opinion quite a few shades worser than naxalism. You can bury my opinions and me too if you feel so inclined but you cant bury the fact that capitalism has been and continues to be the biggest exploiter and killer of people worldwide apart from also being a raper and murderer of the environment.

I am glad that you did not counter the fact the illicit can be
consensual and does not have to be illegal, unlike sex at gunpoint. So
we can safely bury your statement "we wouldnt have been a country of
more than a billion people if there wasn't a lot of licit and illicit
sex going on regardless of ideological leanings"

There is a big, big difference between sex at gun point and that too
unmarried folks in the naxalite areas. Besides illegal, it is totally
exploitative.

There is simply no comparison between coercive sex between husband and wife. The comparison is simply ludicrous, to say the least

If we were under naxalites, there will be no freedom of _expression_ and
such a group cannot even exist.
