I need this for Postgres:

The name find_by_sql is just copying what Rails does - is there a
better one that's more "inclusive" of NoSQL databases?  Also, what
kind of argument would this function take for Riak or Mnesia or
whatever?  For SQL, it's a string, and, optionally, some parameters.
