Hi Cindy, I didn't see your original post that explained how your pup became blind, so forgive me if I say anything stupid here.
Just FYI, my friend has a 14-yr old pure Jack Russell who has severe cataracts to the point where he really doesn't see much of anything. We've notice that when it is just barely dark outside, or a full-moon, the little guy goes into guerrilla-warfare mode outside and runs deer trails like a bandit. I think the glare of bright light makes his vision impossible during the daylight hours. He is too old and has too many other health risks to put him under for surgery - so he will have to keep the cataracts. That said - you might feel sorry for him if you ever watch him stand in front of the tall stereo speakers thinking he found the door - making his one gigantic WOOF like a german shepherd sized dog saying, "let me outside!" ... but he seems to otherwise navigate with no frustration. In fact, the little booger pulled a really silly stunt and went walk-about for several days during very cold weather a few months ago. My friend had posters everywhere, and he drove to speak with everyone in the vicinity. The stories he heard about how his poor little blind antique doggy got around would shock you. He played with a pack of beagles one day, showed up at a feeding station for strays a couple days, ate kitty food from another neighbor, and generally meandered along wooded trails to his hearts content. He was finally picked up by a fisherman who took him to his sister-in-law. The sister-in-law cuddled and kept him until my friend could find him ... but it was many MANY miles from where he lived. This walk-about tour was a shock from a 14-yr old - even discounting his other frailties! He has since regained his role as head of the house. He takes no guff from the cat, the other dog, or anyone, or anything. Yes, he watches him, but dogs can adjust to blindness much better than you would ever think. Hope this helps.
