Hi my name is Cindy.. I am owned by the chihuahua's on my web site. www.cindyrillis-chihuahuas.net Anyway, your address said for me that the server is not found.. If you can send it again maybe it will come through for me.. Anyway , you had some questions.. first. I do walk my dogs. I start working with them the first summer of their life. So if they are babies I go easy on them.. If they are born like in Oct. then in May I start working with them. I feel that is a good time.. The first couple of times it is more of a drag then a walk but I take a Chi that enjoys walking on a leash (one I previously trained) and after the first one or two times of the pup not being a happy camper the pup will then watch what the other dog is doing and then by the 2nd or 3rd walk they usually get it..
When I start the walk I usually do it on the lawn and on something soft. Also, I don't go far..
I only want to give the pup the idea that this is okay. I always take an older dog too and treats too.You want to be focused , direct , but have it be as enjoyable as possible. The first time the pup is not happy ,but it does get better. I never yell or go fast , or walk far.. You just want the concept of the chain and the pup being on it and walking right beside you. Always, give your baby a hug and kiss when done.. That way your pup knows you still love him no matter what. Right or wrong , That is how I work with my guys and I can take any of my older guys for a walk at any time.. They all fight to be the first. I usually take 3 at a time so I am not wallking all day long to take everybody. If you take one , then they all want a walk. I have a few new ones that came up from the states and I will be working with them. I also have a litter of pups
coming in late spring so if I keep a pup I won't work with the pup till next spring. I will let the little baby be just that, a baby.
All of mine are paper trained, I have no knowledge of litter training.
I would love to see what your dog looks like , Cindy

His name is Dazzles Marco Roberto. You can see him at
http://www.bedoroses.com/pups/dazzles.htm. We live in northern Texas just
west of Fort Worth. I have been a cat person and this is my first puppy so
I will be asking lots of basic questions. I am trying to paper and crate
train him and hope to litter box train him as well. He hasn't learned to
walk on his leash and I have to get him an exercise pen soon. I will be
ordering one this week.
Questions:
What color is this dog?
Do dogs like to pee in a different spot than they poop like some cats?
How can I get him to walk on a leash with me? Don't want to drag him.
I have enrolled in a Petsmart Puppy Training course and we start tomorrow
night.
