Our little Brutus bit me the other day, I picked him up held him at arms length and told him no bite...rather loud, not yelling just loud.  He has not even tried to bite me since, he just gives kisses!

He now begs to be picked up and is as loving as he was when we picked him up a week ago.

As far as the barking goes, I use the spray bottle of water.  Now if they start barking too much after I tell them all "NO BARK" I pick up the bottle and they usually just stop at the sight of it.  If they don't I spray them once and it is done, if not they get sprayed again...works wonderful!  Doesn't hurt them at all, just alerts them to what you want them to do.
