Why do people eat steaks rare if they are so harmful? Personally I cant eat anything unless its burnt to a crisp but then again I was a vegetarian for 2 years.

Wrong! Cold does NOT kill the dangerous bacteria in raw meat! That bacterial merely goes dormant. It will begin to regrow as soon as the meat is allowed to warm up. My husband works as a Hospital Dietary Specialist and threw a fit when I told him about the raw vs cooked debate taking place on this list. He cited all the types of bacteria and microbes that will lie dormant in frozen meat. When the meat reaches room temperature, those same bacteria and microbes immediately begin to proliferate. Meat (and all other foods) should never be left unexaggerated for more than 2 hours. After 2 hours it can change properties and become toxic to humans and animals alike! Protein-based foods such as meat, cheese, and egg are the most dangerous. Haven't you listened to the news or read the news paper lately?
Raw chicken can, and often does, contain Salmonella. Let's face it, chicken purchased in any store, organic or otherwise is nothing more than the flesh of a dead, decomposing bird! Beef can be tainted with the bacteria that causes "Mad Cow Disease"! In the dietary department where my husband works, all surfaces that have been used to prepare raw meats are cleaned with bleach to kill the germs before they contaminate other foods. Even putting your hands near your mouth after handling raw meat can make you terribly ill!!! What are you people thinking? Do the research. You'll find that I'm telling you the truth.
