I have to double check, but I think that the earliest the AKC will allow a
litter to be registered without DNA is if the male is at least 8 months.
They can reproduce as early as 6 months, but since that is rare, the AKC is
suspicious when any male mates younger than 8 months...thus requiring DNA to
prove paternity. I know of no health reasons to prevent a male from mating
as soon as he is physically able. After all, after the fun, his job is
done...lol
