I wouldn't put up with nasty behavior. My husband is camping with his son this weekend and I took the girls up to visit him last night and today. SEVERAL people said they don't like chihuahuas because they are yippy, mean dogs...but then commented on how mine were nice. They either were sitting in our laps, laying in the grass, or walking nicely on leash through the campground. Someone had two younger shi tzus who were barking and growling and pulling on the leash, etc. My guys sat there and looked at her two dogs. Kitty did growl slightly when her (growling) dog got closer to smell her, but that's the extent of it. I think a lot of it usually has to do more with the owner than with the dog.
