I think the rescues have their own issues.  She has had the dog for a long time.  1000 is not that much.  I wouldn't recommend a rescue giving money to her.  Why hasn't she set money aside for a rainy day.  Does she drink, smoke, rent movies, go out to Mcd's... I'm sure there is a bunch of things over the years she could have foregone to save money for the proverbial rainy day.  She can work on a payment plan with an reputable vet since the dog has already received treatment or has she stiffed the vet before or has a bad credit ratings.  Usually most people could put 1000 on a credit card .. Perhaps she doesn't chose to.  If she doesn't have a credit card... gee I wonder why.   I never enable people.  Yes, its for the animals but in this case I don't see why the owner needs the money at this point and why she can't do something to get it.  Do you have possessions to go to the pawn shop.  Jewelery , tools.  hmmmm..
